Over 90,000 New Brunswickers live with a mobility disability. The sudden reality of a spinal cord injury or the onset of any mobility disability can be frightening and overwhelming. Many persons with mobility disability in our community face barriers to community participation and issues such as poverty, inactivity, social isolation and inaccessible communities are common. Ability NB was formed in 1965 as a provincial community based organization. Our mission: To empower the independence and full community participation of persons who have spinal cord injury or mobility disability by providing innovative services and developing progressive public policy. We work with children, youth, adults and seniors with mobility disability and their family members.
