A press conference was held July 26 to launch the 2016 Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards. A number of past Business Excellence Award recipients gathered at Moncton City Hall to pose with their awards after the press conference. This year's Awards Gala will be held Oct. 26 at the Delta Beauséjour.

The 31st Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards will be presented at the Delta Beauséjour on Wednesday October 26th, 2016. The goal of these awards is to encourage entrepreneurship in the region and enhance the image of the region nationally by celebrating the excellence of our entrepreneurs.
Selection: Nominations will be submitted to a panel of judges comprised of business leaders from the Greater Moncton region. Companies may only be nominated in one category. Previous winners cannot be nominated in the same category. You must be a member of the GMCC to win.
Excellence in Business: This award will be given to a business that has been operating for ten years or more. The nominee has demonstrated excellence in business operations in a number of areas such as production, marketing, sales, quality control, customer service, human resources, financial management, etc. The candidate is clearly viewed by peers as a leader in business excellence and has demonstrated the best aspects of an entrepreneurial spirit. In addition, the nominee has a proven record of community involvement and is a role model for the business community.
Excellence in Business (Small and Medium Enterprise): This award will be given to a business that has been operating for 5 years or more with 100 employees or less. The nominee has demonstrated excellence in business operations in a number of areas such as production, marketing, sales, quality control, customer service, etc. The candidate is clearly viewed by peers as a leader in business excellence and has demonstrated the best aspects of an entrepreneurial spirit. In addition, the nominee has a proven record of community involvement and is a role model for the business community.
Emerging Business: This award will be given to a business that has been operating within the Greater Moncton community for at least three years but less than ten years. The nominee is profitable and has demonstrated remarkable growth, innovation and leadership in their industry sector during the first three to ten years of operation.
Innovation: This award will be given to a business that has created a new and unique business concept or has applied innovative improvements to existing processes, products or services. There must be a degree of success associated with the utilization of the innovation, with productivity improvements and/or increased sales as a result.
Marketing: This award will be given to a business that has demonstrated a consistent, innovative and creative marketing approach to reach its target market. The marketing tools used have been innovative and diversified to include Social Media. There should be an obvious benefit derived from such marketing efforts.
Community Service: This award will be given to a business that has made a significant contribution to the community by supporting charities, festivals, events, community projects and development. It also volunteers its services, products and/or funding and displays extraordinary social responsibility.
Environmental Excellence: This award will be given to a business that has demonstrated strong environmental leadership through its policies and practices in order to improve ecological sustainability and reduce its impact on the environment.
Young Entrepreneur: This award will be given to one of Greater Moncton’s brightest young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 to 34. The nominee will be recognized for his/her innovative spirit, business acumen and affinity towards the community and youth entrepreneurship.
Newcomer Entrepreneur: This award will be given to an immigrant entrepreneur who has been operating a business in the Greater Moncton area (New or well established). The nominee will be recognized for his/her business & innovative spirit as well as his/her involvement and integration within the Greater Moncton community.
Inclusive Hiring Award: The Inclusive Hiring Award will go to a business that has demonstrated leadership in hiring newcomers, and giving them the necessary training, wages and support to successfully transition to the local workforce. The criteria will also include how organizations have helped immigrants and their families in other ways – outside the workplace – to integrate into the community.
People's Choice: This award will be given to a business based on votes submitted online by members of the general public. Candidates will be pooled from the list of eligible nominees.
